The State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease (SKLRD), led by Director Prof. Nanshan ZHONG and Deputy Director Prof. Ling CHEN, is a leading research Centre for Respiratory Diseases in China. SKLRD was jointly established by Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Disease (GIRD)/Guangzhou Medical University, and Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and Health (GIBH)/Chinese Academy of Sciences. SKLRD aims to improve the quality of life by advancing the medical sciences in prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases. Current research areas include studying epidemiology and influencing factors, identifying the underlying mechanism of the diseases, exploring new treatment and prevention modalities, and management of chronic respiratory diseases. SKLRD is committed to focus on translational research with the intention to identify the unmet medical needs to guide our research direction, and to take the discovery in basic research into more effective treatment and prevention of respiratory diseases. SKLRD published more than 100 SCI papers in 2012. Some of the research work represented the leading advancement in the field of respiratory diseases, such as the new etiology and management of COPD, the visualization of influenza virus infection in living mice, the new multiplex diagnostics for respiratory diseases. In the coming years, SKLRD will expand its current laboratory space. SKLRD is striving to become a world leading research laboratory in the field of respiratory diseases, with the goal of alleviating people’s suffering from respiratory diseases in China and the world.

SKLRD is seeking highly qualified scientists to fill leading scientist positions. The candidates will need to apply for “1000 Talent Program”, “Young 1000 Talent Program”, “Chinese NSF Distinguished Young Scholars”, “Professor of Education Ministry Chang Jiang Scholar”, or “Guangdong Province Universities and Colleges Pearl River Scholar”.

Successful candidates must possess a Ph.D or MD degree from top universities, have publications in internationally first class peer-reviewed journals in recent 5 years, and currently hold an Assistant professor and above in internationally renowned universities, institutes or hospitals. Preference will be given to those with a strong background and successful experiences in both clinical and basic research.
