We are offering a 3 year Postdoctoral Fellowship (CDF) which is a training and development position for post-doctoral scientists. Applicants will have recently completed their doctoral studies.The applicant should be interested in understanding the molecular basis of the host immune response to different strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and show interest in the research recently published by Anne O'Garra's group in Nature 2010 on the potential factors underlying the pathogenesis of tuberculosis.The applicant should be interested in a project working on understanding the effect of different strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis on the host immune response at the molecular and cellular level, and in particular the role that interferons play. The applicant should be interested in using transcriptomics and cellular and molecular approaches to study the host response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis in relevant experimental models: in vitro in mouse and/or human macrophages and dendritic cells; and also in vivo in susceptible and resistant mouse models of TB.The candidate should be able to interact with researchers working on experimental models of TB and human TB.
