爱沙尼亚塔尔图大学2020年招收博士后(合成生物学)
The ERA Chair in Gas Fermentation Technologies (GasFermTEC) was established at the University of Tartu (UT), Estonia with EU-funds (~2.5m Euro) in 2019 with the aim to address global challenges of biosustainability through integration of gas fermentation technologies with systems and synthetic biology. This project builds upon the recently developed cutting-edge systems biology platform (Valgepea et al. 2017, Cell Systems; Valgepea et al. 2017, Metabolic Engineering; Valgepea et al. 2018, Biotechnology for Biofuels; Lemgruber, Valgepea et al. 2019 Metabolic Engineering; Lemgruber, Valgepea et al. 2019, Frontiers in Microbiology) and state-of-the art gas fermentation facility at GasFermTEC enabling rational metabolic engineering of gas-fermenting acetogens. GasFermTEC also collaborates with the biotechnology industry leader in gas fermentation LanzaTech for developing sustainable waste-to-chemical bioprocesses.
UT is seeking for a Postdoc to lead engineering of acetogen cell factories for gas fermentation using synthetic biology. Duration of position is 3 years and position reports to Dr Kaspar Valgepea, Group Leader at GasFermTEC.
DUTIES
The Postdoc will establish synthetic biology tools for acetogens to perform systems biology-guided engineering of acetogen cell factories for chemical production in gas fermentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
UT is seeking for a highly motivated, creative, and ambitious researcher with experience in microbiology and synthetic biology. Experience with anaerobic techniques is a plus. A PhD degree or near-completion of PhD studies in Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or in a related field is required.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Culturing microbes – Application of synthetic biology tools – Good knowledge in microbial physiology
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Ability to work independently and in a team – Excellent organisational and record keeping skills
- Strong motivation for personal development – Good communication and English language skills
WE OFFER
- Exciting project in the field of gas fermentation
- International working environment and collaboration network
-Salary between 1500-3000 Euro/month (before tax) depending on qualifications and experience
To apply for this position, send a letter describing your motivation and skills, a CV, and contact details of two referees to kaspar.valgepea@ut.ee by June 30th, 2020.
