英国牛津大学2020年招聘博士后(计算地球科学)
Senior Research Fellow in Computational Geosciences
Department of Earth Sciences
Grade 10: £55,750 - £64,605 p.a.
Applications are invited for a Senior Research Fellow in Computational Geosciences in the Department of Earth Sciences. The postholder will support computational geoscience in the Department by bringing modern standards of software engineering, distributed development, code maintenance/documentation, interoperability, and open-source distribution to the research groups. This includes the interface between geophysical software and hardware, including that required for instruments such as seismometers and gravimeters. Furthermore, the postholder will collaborate with faculty, postdoctoral researchers and students to develop new software that is verified, efficient, and scalable on evolving computer architectures. The postholder will lead research in geophysical computing in the department, and will be responsible for co-supervising and supporting research in this field for graduate students and postdoctoral scientists. S/he will also contribute to development and grant preparation for new computational projects in collaboration with members of the Department, and the University more broadly. S/he will be responsible for managing a small network of Linux workstations, including 2-3 shared, multi-core machines, as well as managing geophysical instrumentation. The postholder will play a key role in the development and expansion of such computing facilities and equipment. Candidates will have a PhD in mathematics, computer science, earth sciences or physics, or a related discipline, and have significant post-qualification research experience, a recognised international authority in computational geosciences, with a high level of expertise in numerical solution of PDEs, experience in supervising students and managing staff, ability to lead an independent research programme and to work well with others in an interdisciplinary environment. Experience mentoring graduate students and managing open-source code projects and software licenses are desirable but not essential. For further details of the responsibilities/duties, please see job description. This is an open-ended position. The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on Monday 29 June 2020. Interviews to take place in early July 2020.
