Job Description
The Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. Specifically, we are seeking a highly-motivated and talented, Postdoctoral Associate to join Dr. Robert Starke’s laboratory at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The successful candidate will use cell culture and animal models, and molecular biology techniques to investigate the role of endothelial dysfunction in cerebral aneurysm formation and progression. This research project is part of the overall goal of the laboratory which is to understand how and why cerebral aneurysms form, progress and rupture and the development of novel treatment strategies for cerebral aneurysm management. The candidate must be able to work both collaboratively and independently and must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. S/he will be expected to present their data in laboratory meetings each week and represent the laboratory by presenting their work in seminars and poster presentations as appropriate. S/he will also be expected to perform data analysis, prepare manuscripts of their work, write grants, and assist in the training of new laboratory members and in the daily operation of the laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful candidates must have a doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD, or MD), and a track record of productivity with peer-reviewed publications. A background in molecular biology, cell culture, and multicolor flow cytometry are required; experience in –omics research (epigenomics, genomic, proteomic), ChIP-seq, and/or rodent surgeries are desirable. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
