One Post-doctoral position is opened commencing in October 2012 for a period of two years at the Institute of Life Sciences (http://www.uclouvain.be/en-isv.html), University of Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium).
*Our laboratory is interested in the trafficking, the activity and the regulation of yeast and human membrane transporters. *
The main goal of this project is to study an uncharacterized highly conserved Golgi-localized membrane transporter, the Human ortholog being involved in a genetic desease. For that purpose, we will use a variety of classical techniques based on genetics, biochemistry and yeast cell biology. The biochemical characterization will focus on purification of the yeast and human transporters, reconstitution into liposomes followed by solute transport measurements.
Qualifications requested:
the highly motivated candidate must have a PhD in the area of molecular biology or biochemistry, with experience in yeast cell biology and membrane proteins. The candidate should have at least one first-author publication in an international journal. Net monthly allowance will vary between 2,105 and 2,263 Euros per month according to experience. Applicants should hold a PhD with no more than four years of postdoctoral experience and no recent employment in Belgium.
