英国剑桥大学卡文迪许实验室招收博士后

2012-08-28 11:36 来源:未知 作者:admin

As part of a new EPSRC-funded grant “Beyond Modulation Doping”, a three-year postdoctoral Research Associate position is available for an experimentalist. Based in the Semiconductor Physics Group at the Cavendish Laboratory, the position will involve a close collaboration with theorists at the University of Cambridge, and experimentalists at the University of New South Wales and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

The Semiconductor Physics Group is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories for molecular-beam epitaxy, semiconductor device fabrication, cryogenics, and transport measurements down to 20 mK. We seek a post-doctoral researcher who will undertake the design, fabrication, and measurement at low temperatures (20 mK) of undoped GaAs/AlGaAs semiconductor devices in two related projects. The first project involves the measurement of the spin coherence lifetime (T2*) at RF frequencies in coupled quantum dots, with the aim of producing the longest spin coherence lifetime of any quantum computer candidate system. The second project involves single-electron transistor and/or interference-based measurements, with the aim of revealing the signature of non-Abelian physics in exotic fractional quantum Hall states (e.g. filling factor nu = 5/2).

The researcher should have a PhD in Physics, Engineering or a related discipline. Experience in one or more of the following would be an advantage: III-V semiconductor processing, transport measurements, operation and maintenance of dilution refrigerators, radio-frequency (RF) measurements, and the physics of interacting systems.

Informal enquires may be addressed to Prof. David Ritchie (dar11@cam.ac.uk).
